James William HUNT⁵⁹ was born on 8 May 1815 in Wayne Co., IN.⁵⁹ He died about 1852 in UT.⁵⁹ James and Caroline lived in LaPorte Co. and Wayne Co., IN until about 1851 and sometime between April 1851 and 2 Aug 1852 he started with his family for Oregon and is reported to have died along the way in Utah after which Caroline brought the children back to Indiana.

James William HUNT and Caroline SMITH were married on 27 June 1832 in IN.⁵⁹ Caroline SMITH was born (date unknown).

James William HUNT and Caroline SMITH had the following children:
