40. Dr. Daniel HUNT¹⁷ was born about 1726 in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ.¹⁷ He signed a will on 30 August 1789 in Rowan Co., NC. He died in 1802 in Rowan Co., NC.¹⁷ Will proven for name at place on date.¹⁷ Daniel was said to have been a Doctor in Trenton who followed his brothers Johnathan and Gershom down to NC and dies there in 1806. Deed records show that on 20 Feb 1767 Daniel Hunt, "planter of Rowan Co., NC." received from Henry McCulloch, Esq., 230 acres on both sides of Swearing Creek "known by the name of Thomas Biles old place" for forty pounds (quit rents excepted, but 43 pounds is acknowledged in receipt). witnessed by Gershom Hunt and Thomas Frohock and proved by the latter in May of 1774. Daniel obtained an additional 31 acres on 7 Apr 1773 on Swearing Creek and Beaver Dam Branch. On 30 Aug 1789, Daniel Hunt, "while very sick and weak." made his will listing his wife Susanna and children John, Gershom, Arthur, Daniel, Owen, Abel, Jonathan, Margaret, Ann, Charity, Hannah (wife of John Green), named executors wife, son John, and John Green. The will was proved in August of 1802 by Mrs. Susanna and John Hunt by which it was assumed that if he was "very sick and weak" in 1789, he recovered and lived another 13 years.
