Funeral for Matilda Cook
Mrs. Matilda Cook was buried in Memorial Park cemetery this morning following funeral services from the home at Glenwood and Peters Street. The Rev. E. Wollman officiated. Mrs. Cook died in the University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Saturday evening. Matilda was buried on 7 August 1934 in Roselawn Cemetery, Monroe, Monroe Co., MI. William Cook
William (Jack) Cook, 73, of 600 Nadeau Road, died at 2:10am yesterday in Monroe Hospital, where he had been since Monday. He had been in poor health eight months and seriously ill five weeks. He was born May 3, 1879, at Maynardville, Tenn., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Cook. March 10, 1900 he married Matilda Whited at Maynardville. She died Aug 4, 1934. He married Clara Sears April 2, 1937 at Monroe.
In 1926 he came to Monroe from Maynardville. For many years he operated a grocery at Peters St. and Fernwood Dr.
His is survived by his wife, Clara, two sons, Ted, with whom he lived, and Ulys of Hillsdale; two daughters, Mrs. Dewey Graves of Knoxville, and Mrs. George Mabe of Frenchtown Township; a brother R. H. Cook of Verden Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Baker of Pratt, Kansas, and Mrs. Curtis Braden of Maynardville; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One son, Wayne, died in infancy.
Services will at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the Earle Little Funeral Home and 1:20 in the Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. E. E. Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
