He retired as an Ashland Oil Co. Distributor after 25 years of service, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Deputy Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Kentucky. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Owenton, where he had served as a deacon, treasurer, teacher and trustee. He also was a member and past master of the Owenton Emanuel Lodge No. 213 of the IOOF for more than 37 years. Survivors include his wife, Syble Hankins Pierson; sons, Larry Pierson of Owenton and Gregory Pierson of Lexington; and two grandsons. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be there from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with Odd Fellows services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Monterey Masonic Cemetery. Oscar was buried on 31 August 1994 in Monterey Cemetery, Owen Co., KY. Oscar PIERSON Jr. and Syble HANKINS were married on 11 November 1948 in Petersburg, Boone Co., KY. Syble Hankins Pierson, 78, of Owenton died Dec. 17 at New Horizons Medical Center. She was born Oct. 13, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Willie Judy Hankins. She was a retired bank teller from Farmer's Bank; a member of Owenton First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, GA teacher and active in the WMU; a member of Rebekah Lodge #123 where she was a former state president; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary where she was a patriarch militant; and a Kentucky Colonel. She is survived by one son, Greg (Connie) Pierson of Georgetown; a daughter-in-law, Judy Pierson of Owenton; five sisters, Fannie Whitton of Edgewood, Lucy Jacobs, Helen Bourne and Judy Jones, all of Owenton, and Nancy Grisham of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Ryan, Casey and Alexandra Dale Pierson; and one great-grandson, Larry Blaine Pierson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Pierson Jr.; two sons, Larry and Jeffrey Lynn Pierson; brother, William Howard Hankins and two sisters, Georgia Rose and Freida Bourne.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Owenton First Baptist Church with Bro. Daven Watkins and Bro. Ralph Bourne officiating. Burial was in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monterey Cemetery Fund, Owenton First Baptist Family Life Center or Kentucky Baptist Home for Children.

Syble Hankins Pierson, 78, of Owenton, died Wednesday at New Horizons Medical Center, Owenton. She was a retired bank teller with Farmer's Bank and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 123, and a former state president with the group. Her husband, Oscar Pierson Jr.; and sons, Larry Pierson and Jeffrey Lynn Pierson, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Greg Pierson of Georgetown; sisters, Lucy Jacobs, Helen Bourne and Judy Jones, all of Owenton, Fannie Whitton of Edgewood and Nancy Grisham of Frankfort; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at McDonald and New Funeral Home, Seminary Street location, Owenton. Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery. Oscar PIERSON Jr. and Syble HANKINS had the following children:
