NOTE: A John Elfand b 1762 d 1844 is buried in Stoner's Cemetery PETER EFLAND'S WILL 4 January 1793 In the name of God Amen I Peter EFLAND of the County of Orange in the Sate of North Carolina, being weak in body and understanding do make this my Last will and Testament First of all I recomend my Soal into the hands of Almighty God that gave it to me hopeing through the merits of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to receive Full pardon for all my sins, and as for my Body I Commit it to the Earth to be Decently buried at the descretion of my Executors herein after mentioned and as for what worly Goods it hath pleased God to bestow on me I give devise and dispose of in the following manner and form Item I give and bequeath to Catharena EFLAND my Dearly beloved Wife Twenty five pounds One Cove One bed bed stead and Furniture my Will and Desire is that it be the bed that we Lie on One Large skillet One Iron pot Rack allso What She pleases to Take out of Orchard and from the Cows and out of the garden, and further is is my Will and Desire that she shall have all that she Brought with her to me , and it is allso my Will and Desire that she keep all that I have given her Dureing her Natural Life and to Dispose of them at her Deceas as she thinks Proper, and Further my will and Desire is that What Ever is Laid in for our years provision and Cloathing be my Wifes and that None of it be Taken from her Item I give to my son David EFLAND Five Shillings Sterling it being all that Ever I intend he shall have of my Estate. Will in archives. He died on 3 May 1793 at the age of 80 in St. Asaph's District, Orange Co., NC.319 Tenant of Monocacy manor in Maryland in 1743. Moved to North Carolina about 1755. Peter's will is dated 4 January 1793 and was probated in May 1793 and names his children: David Efland (Revolutionary War soldier and pensioner (#s32, 239 NC); John Efland (Revolutionary War soldier and pensioner (#S6814 NC); Catherine Efland; Mary Efland; Elizabeth; Sarah and Phyllis. On the 1780 tax list for St. Asaph's District in Orange County, Peter Eveland was taxed on 200 acres of land. The name of David Eveland was also listed, but he had no property. In 1782, both Peter and David Eveland were taxed on 100 acres each and in 1783, John Eveland was taxed on 100 acres and Peter had no property assessment. he apparently had given each of his sons 100 acres when they became of age. The Noe/Noey/Noah Family, Elizabeth (Noah) Yost, August 1993, p 14, 15. Catherine "Catey" (?) and Peter EFLAND were married about 1738 in Essex Co., NJ. 319. Catherine "Catey" (?) was born about 1720 in NJ. She died after 1793 at the age of 73. Some have her as a Pickard with John and Peggy as parents. This is incorrect. That Catherine Pickard was married to Jacob Efland.

He was only left five shillings in his father's will. "all that I intend he shall have of my estate". Pensioner No. S-32,239 N.C. On the 27th day of August 1833, David Ephland, then residing in the township of Sugar Creek, Parke County, Indiana, made application for a pension for services rendered in North Carolina during the Revolutionary War. At that time he was 82 years of age. Served with a Capt. Moore in the 1st Regiment of the NC Line...under General Frank nash, who was afterwards killed at Brandywine, That he enlisted for three years in Orange Co., NC where he resided... marched to Wilmington in said state... then came back and marched to halifax in Virginia... then marched to Wilmington, then to Charleston; stationed there all winter until March 14, then marched to Lancaster, PA., and a considerable number were vaccinated to prevent smallpox.. While in this condition the Battle of Brandywine was fought and said Nash was killed...Afterwards Green was his General and under same marched in pusuit of Cornwallis and was at the Battle of Guilford....marched to Deepriver where 25 prisoners were taken... Pensioned at $80 per annum from June 7, 1832 - On Role at Terre haute, Indiana Agency. has been paid from Mar 4, 1837 to Sept. 4, 1837. Treasury Dept, Sept. 20, 1838 ... Transfer of money unclaimed by certain pensioners... David Ephland. | | v. | Phyllis EFLAND was born in 1759 in Orange Co., NC.322 She died in 1841 at the age of 82 in Anderson Co., TN.322,323 Living with her son John in the 1840 census. Information on Phyllis is from page 377 of "Our Union County Heritage" volume 2. | | vi. | Daniel EFLAND was born about 1760 in Orange Co., NC.233 He died in 1840 at the age of 80 in Anderson Co., TN.233 | | vii. | John EFLAND Sr.321 was born on 16 February 1762 in Orange Co., NC.254,321 He died on 22 October 1844 at the age of 82 in Alamance Co., NC.254,321 Eveland website has 22 Oct 1824. See Notes. He was buried in October 1844 in Stoner's Church Cemetery, Alamance Co., NC. On 1 Sep 1832, John Eveland (Efland, Ephland) applied for pension for his services in Am. Rev. War. (# S-6814 N.C.) App. states he served 3 months in 1779 in Company of Capt. O'Neal and Lt. James Trousdale as part of Gen. Tillington's Brigade. Pension of $40 a year was granted. See P.256 ACB book.
