He died in Isle of Wight Co., VA. Edmund Johnston came from Annadale, Dumfriedshire, Scotland to Jamestown, Virginia in 1639; lived in Northampshire, Virginia, until 1642 when sponsored into Isle of Wight. See page 285 UCH, volume 2. Also see page 3 of Elmo Johnson book. He was sponsored into Isle of Wight County in 1642 by the first Francis Mason. He evidently had one or more children when he arrived from Annandale. No record has been found as to who his wife may have been. A William Johnston arrived in VA in 1635, followed by John and Walter Johnston in 1638, with Edmund arriving the following year. According to Elmo Johnson, it is indicated that John, Walter, and Edmund were closely related. Children were:
