1783. Rufus RUTHERFORD³⁸⁴ was born on 12 January 1856 in TN. He appeared in the census in 1870 in District 2, Anderson Co., TN. Living with his mother and the William H. Gibbs family in 1870:

His father died when he was nine months old. He was raised and educated in the Clinton schools. He engaged in farming in 1879 and then moved to Texas for two years, returned to Andersonville and farmed two miles north of there. He then moved to Andersonville and engaged as a clerk for Henry Clear, Jr. In 1885 he moved to Clinton and engaged in the livery business and now has the only stables in the place.

Rufus RUTHERFORD and Emma LEAK were married on 29 December 1886 in TN.³⁸⁴ They had two children, but both died young.
Emma LEAK was born on 25 December 1861 in TN.³⁸⁴

Rufus RUTHERFORD and Alice MOORE were married on 18 February 1897. Alice MOORE was born (date unknown).

Rufus RUTHERFORD and Alice MOORE had the following children:
