He died on 14 October 1882 in Springfield, Conway Co., AR.58 His Headstone listed the following:

1865 Missouri Douglas Co. Nov. 29th. Uriah applied for homestead land. He was issued Homestead Certificates No396... This land is located on Rippee Creek in the Brown Twp of Douglas Co.
1871 Arkansas, Conway Co. Springfield. Uriah and family moved to Springfield. Land records dated Nov. 4, 1871 show that he bought land there.
1872 Arkansas Conway Co. On Jan. 26 1872 Uriah registered his credentials as an Ordained Deacon in the Methodist Protestant Church (Deed Book L page 261).
1874, 1877, 1879 Arkansas, Conway Co.. Uriah paid taxes on land he owned.
1880 Arkansas, Conway Co. The last record of Uriah Shipley in Conway Co. Ark. is dated Sept. 29, 1880. It is a promissory note. William M. Shipley is also listed.

Sterling Davis, Uriah's oldest son lived next door.
1929-1830 Uriah and Ann Davis get married. One source states that family tradition was that Ann was a full blood Cherokee Indian. This source also states that during the first 10 or 12 years of their marriage they spent living in the Ocoee Indian district in Tennessee. Bradley Co was formed from this district and they are listed as among the first settlers of the Eureka Community. Uriah being a Lay Minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church helped form the Eureka Academy, a church school for the Indian children. During the 1840s the family moved back to McMinn Co.
Annie DAVIS was born about 1812 in NC.58,148 She died on 23 November 1863 in Douglas Co., MO.58
