He enlisted at age 18 on Feb 14 1863, was wounded by accident at Madison Courthouse in the summer of 1863. He was a farmer in Coble Twp., Alamance Co. in 1870. later he lived at Guilford Battle Ground (Rev. War) near Greensboro. he ran a grist mill next to his son's (Lawrence) store at Guilford battle Ground. He was listed as a carpenter on the 1910 Census.
