Letters of Administration have been issued to Alexander Clapp, Adm & surviving partner on 28 Aug 1866 in Christian CO. All persons with claims against the estate must make them within two years." "Riverdale Mill - The first mill built in Christian Co., MO was built by Benjamin Hooten, on 40 acres. He built a wooden dam across Finley River, of the wing type. The mill was on the east side of the river. Hooten and his wife Annie sold out to Alexander Clapp from Taney Co. 14 Aug 1857. This transaction was recorded in Greene Co., MO 12 Mar 1867. Clapp had built a better dam and reworked the facilities to incorporate a saw mill in conjunction with the grist mill. He sold out to James W. Edwards 36 apr 1873, who ran it until John D. McCroskey purchased the mill 14 Jan 1876, operating it until his death. During the Civil War the mill was operated by a Joseph Roberts." Alexander was listed in the Christian Co., MO Enrolled Militia in 1866, 38 years old, 5'8", dark hair, dark eyes, dark complexion, married, a miller, exempted from service.
