GIBSONVILLE - Final rites for Carl Jesse Clapp, 92, of 305 Eugene St.
were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at Forbis and Dick Memorial Chapel
in Greensboro.
Mr. Clapp died Wednesday morning at 12:30 o'clock in a Durham rest home
after six months of illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late George
Washington and Martha Elizabeth Weitzell Clapp. He was a retired employe
of Gulf Oil Co. and wax employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Panama
from 1905 until 1911 during the construction of the Panama Canal. He was
a member of Brick Reformed United Church of Christ and the husband of
the late Frances L. Clapp, who died in 1968.
Surviving are one son. Lawrence L. Clapp of Cantonment, Fla., and one
daughter, Mrs. L. W. Smith Jr. [Frances Elizabeth] of Durham.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Josh Levens, pastor of
Brick Reformed United Church of Christ. Burial was in Forest Lawn
Cemetery in Greensboro. He was buried on 4 February 1971 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC.

Frances LEGERTON was born on 20 June 1884. She died on 12 June 1968 at the age of 83 in NC. Buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
