MONTEZUMA, IN— Raymond E. Clapp, 75, of Montezuma, died at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, in his residence. He was a farmer. He was born Nov. 26, 1935, in Grandview, Ill., to the late Richard L. Clapp and Virginia Nay Clapp. His wife of 52 years, Linda Johns Clapp, whom he married Jan. 5, 1958, in Paris, Ill., died Nov. 25, 2010.
Survivors include one son, Bradley Clapp and his wife Joanna Clapp of Montezuma; one daughter, Tamera Clapp Kraft of Montezuma; his stepmother, Joyce Clapp of Casey, Ill.; one brother, Charles Nay of Paris; one sister, Anita Clapp Kramer of Tempe, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Kaitlyn and Camryn Clapp, Kylee Gregg and Karlee Kraft; one great-grandson, Ryder Gregg; several nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Jay Clapp on July 4, 1999; and two brothers, Kenneth E. Nay and Charles Richard Clapp.

He was a graduate of Kansas Illinois High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force at the close of the Korean War. He was a member of the Linebarger Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader, loved the state of Alaska and was a fan of number 17 Matt Kenseth from NASCAR.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard St., in Rockville, with Pastor Leon Myers officiating. Burial will follow with military graveside honors by Parke County veterans in Oakland Cemetery at Montezuma. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
