He came to Kansas, IL in 1859 from PA. ON 8 Aug 1862, he enlisted with the 79th Ill Vol. Infantry as a musician, and the following January, was discharged. In Sept 1864, he went out with the 59th Illinois, and at the Battle of Nashville, was wounded, which disabled him from further duties. He was then discharged and he returned to Kansas, IL.
