BENTON — Vernon Owen Clapp, 83, of Benton, KY., passed away at 9:45 P.M. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Marshall County Hospital.
He retired from pest control with Terminex.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Carol Cox Clapp of Benton, KY.; two daughters, Julie Vinson of Paducah, KY. and Jenny Bonner and her husband Kevin of Lithia, FL.; four sons, Dirk Clapp and his wife Erin, and Billy Clapp and his wife Mary, both of Calvert City, KY., Douglas Clapp and his wife Lisa of Jacksonville, N.C., and Donald Clapp and his wife Kim of Sharpe, KY.; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and stepfather, Fred James of AR.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Clapp. His parents were Freeman Clapp and Jewell King Clapp.
There will be a private family memorial service on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Trad York officiating.
A public visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, May 21, 2012, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory.

He was buried on 21 May 2012 in Marshall Co., KY.
