Clapp, Jr., 77, of 601 South Williamson Avenue, Elon died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 1:25 a.m. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of Chalmer R. Clapp, Sr. and Leola Clapp, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Military Police serving during the Korean Conflict. C.R. was a retired machine operator for P. Lorillard Tobacco Company and an avid salt water fisherman. He was a member of Apples Chapel Baptist Church and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Randall Clapp and a special friend Carol, Timothy Clapp and wife Nancy, Michael Clapp and wife Deborah and Jeffrey Clapp and wife Lisa; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Rosser Lee Clapp and wife Doris; and one sister, Marilyn Loye. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua. The funeral service will be conducted at Fellowship Baptist Church on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Van Nelson and Rev. Rosser Lee Clapp. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Alamance Regional Medical Center, Caroline and Karen and also to the staff at the Hospice Home.
