Nancy BEALE, daughter of William BEALE and Una Mae (?), was born on 5 February 1932 in Burlington, Alamance Co., NC. She died on 20 March 2008 at the age of 76 in Cone Memorial Hosp, Greensboro, NC. Greensboro News & Record (NC) - March 22, 2008
GREENSBORO - Nancy Beale Clapp, 76, passed away on Thursday, March 20,
2008, at Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, at West
Market Street United Methodist Church, 302 West Market Street,
Greensboro, North Carolina, with Reverend Bill Ellison officiating.
Interment will be private.
Nancy was born in Burlington, North Carolina, but moved to Greensboro as
a young child. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High, where she was
senior class vice president, head cheerleader, and May Queen. She later
attended Greensboro College and WC-UNC. Her husband's career eventually
took the family to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they lived for 20
years and made many wonderful friends. Greensboro, however, was home to
Nancy; so they moved back upon retirement. Wherever they lived, she
always loved welcoming friends and family into her home.
Nancy taught kindergarten for several years, was an avid bridge player
and tennis buff, but her first loves were her family and friends. She
always took great pleasure in finding special gifts for friends and
loved ones, both at home and on travels all over the world. She
thoroughly enjoyed her involvement with various charitable and social
organizations, including the Mint Museum Auxiliary, antique study club,
Greensboro Country Club, and Myers Park Country Club. She was also a
hospital volunteer in both Greensboro and Charlotte. She was a very
loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Una Mae Beale;
and her beloved sister, Annie Ben Kornegay.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Gerald L.
(Jerry) Clapp; her daughter, Candy Clapp Randall and husband, Dr. Robert
D. Randall, Jr. of Rock Hill, South Carolina; her son, D. Mark Clapp and
wife, Marilyn of Charlotte; and granddaughters, Kelly and Christina, who
will miss their Nanny dearly.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the
church.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at the
Palliative Care Unit at Cone Memorial Hospital for the loving care
provided to both Nancy and her family. A special thanks to Dr. Ravi Avva
of Greensboro for his devoted care to Nancy during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West
Market Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 870, Greensboro, NC
