He died on 29 July 2012 at the age of 65 in Greensburg, Decatur Co., IN. Ivan Gene Clapp, 65, of Greensburg, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at his residence.
He was born June 22, 1947 to Delbert and Eva (Johnson) Clapp in Decatur County.
Survivors include mother, Eva May (Johnson) Clapp of Greensburg; sons, Scott A. Clapp of Dana Point, Calif., and Todd M. Clapp of Costa Mesa, Calif.; brothers, Steve (wife, Sandy) Clapp of Savannah, Tenn., and Stanley Clapp of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sister, Bonnie (husband, Gary) Spurgeon of Bryan, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Ivan was a lifetime area resident and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a tank crew instructor.
He was self-employed as a farmer for most of his life.
Ivan was a member of American Legion Post # 129 and the Eagles Lodge in Greensburg.
He loved to buy and sell antiques and enjoyed his old John Deere tractor and woodworking.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin St. in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom True officiating.
Interment will be at Star Cemetery in Decatur County. There will be a graveside military service conducted by local Decatur County veterans.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post # 129 or Star Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
He was buried on 2 August 2012 in Star Cemetery, Decatur Co., IN.
