Also some of the information is from Emily Clapp, wife of David Clapp who is a descendant of John Ludwig Clapp. Peter was a farmer, as were his sons. Upon adulthood each son received and acreage to establish a home and farm. Babe (Cornelius) remained at home and looked after his parents. Therefore he attained the home place. he later built a new house in front of the original house. That house is still located on Clapp Farms Road. It is owned by Babe's granddaughter Millie Lee Clapp. (1999) Mt. Pleasant united Methodist Church now sits on a portion of the original Peter Clapp Acreage.

Upon her marriage to Peter Clapp she sold all of her land for $2.00 an acre and together they purchased approximately 400 acres of what is now Clapp Farms Road in Guilford Co., NC. This acreage extended to McConnel Road, Mt. Hope Church Road and Burlington Road (Highway 70). Peter and Catherine had 4 children.
