Also a William Brown 21, M, NC He died on 12 May 1926 at the age of 80 in Billings, Polk Twp., Christian Co., MO.1871 Eli was buried in May 1926 in Rose Hill Cemetery, Billings, Christian Co., MO.1869 Dr. Eli Bedford Brown, a well known pioneer physician of Christian County, graduated from Keokuk Medical College, Keokuk, IA in Apr 1872. He began his career at Ozark shortly after that and moved to Billings, MO in 1888, where he continued his practice until his death in 1926. He had served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War, shot through the shoulder in one engagement and later serving as examining physician for the United States Government. He was a member of the American Medical Association, and of the Missouri and Christian County Medical Societies. He was a Mason, a staunch Democrat, and a member of the Christian Church. During the early years of his practice he rode on horseback to the homes of his patients, and distance, the time of day, and the kind of weather, were disregarded when his service to the sick was required.

She saved enough money from her salary to attend the University of Chicago where she specialized in primary and kindergarten methods. She began teaching in the primary grades of Oak Cliff School in Dallas, TX, in 1907. She taught in the Dallas School System for 40 years.
