378. Solomon CLAPP was born on 20 June 1795 in Guilford Co., NC.324 He owned Land Grant on 11 March 1858 in Knox Co., TN. Land Grant, eastern Dist., Clap and Meek, Roll 87, Book 30, page 790.
The State of Tennessee, #30060, TO ALL WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME: Greeting. KNOW YE, that in consideration of an ENTRY made in the ENTRY TAKER'S OFFICE of Knox County, of No. 1,462 dated the 11th day of Mar, 1858; by Solomon Clap & Wm. Meek, there is GRANTED by the State of Tennessee unto the said Clap & Meek and their heirs, a certain tract of land containing EIGHT acres, lying in the County aforesaid, on the south side of black oak ridge adjoining the said Clap & Meek's own lands, beginning at three hickories Clap's corner, thence with his line South 13 poles to a stake on Meek's line, thence with his West 98 poles to a black jack, Meek's corner, thence North 13 poles to a post oak, Clap's corner, thence with his line East 98 poles to the beginning.
Surveyed 11 March 1858 with its appurtenances, to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with its appurtenances, to the said Clap & Meek and their heirs forever. IN WITNESS WHEREON, Isham G. Harris, Governor of the State of Tennessee, has hereunto set his hand and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed at Nashville of the 20th day of March in the YEAR OF OUR LORD one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight and of the AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE the 82.

Ray, Secretary He died on 3 August 1881 at the age of 86 in Knox Co., TN.324 Solomon was buried in August 1881 in Clapp's Chapel Cemetery, Knox Co., TN.324,325 Will proven for name at place on date.326 Baptized in the Brick Church, sponsors: John Clapp, Jr. Nine children. Most information on Solomon's children is from Gibbs Community History 1787-1986 compiled by Emma G. Dunn. Solomon was a Knox Co. soldier in War of 1812 (see Grant information 11 Mar 1858). He gave 3 1/2 acres of land to the trustees of Clapp's Chapel Church in 1846 for a cemetery. He built a 2 story brick house using slaves and with bricks made on the place.

Not sure of which children, if any, were borne by second wife. Farraby "Pherby" SMITH, daughter of John SMITH and Margaret BROWN, was born in 1796 in Wayne Co., TN.324 She died on 20 February 1865 at the age of 69 in Knox Co., TN.324 She was buried in February 1865 in Clapp's Chapel Cemetery, Knox Co., TN.324

S. E. Lonzo CLAPP was born about 1836. He died on 13 August 1857 at the age of 21 in Knox Co., TN.329 He was buried in August 1857 in Clapp's Chapel Cemetery, Knox Co., TN.329 Died at age 7 years. 7th child.
