GIBSONVILLE - Mr. R. Wayne Clapp, 62, of 168 Painter Lakes Road, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Moses Cone Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Brightwood Christian Church, conducted by Pastor Delton Agnor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Guilford County, he was a son of the late Ernest Glenn Clapp and the late Ethel Mae Reese Clapp. He was a retired pharmacy technician with Eckerd Drugs. He was a member of Brightwood Christian Church, a deacon, Sunday school teacher and former treasurer.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sue Powell Clapp of the home; daughters, Mrs. Lisa C. Yates and Miss Susan J. Clapp, all of the home; son, Mr. Michael Glenn Clapp and wife, Diane Clapp of McLeansville; and grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Clapp and Nicholas Williams. He was predeceased by his brother, Bill Clapp.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Brightwood Christian Church. At other times, they will be at the residence. The body will remain at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary, Burlington, until time to be taken to the church for the visitation.
