Wilbur Clapp, 96, of Waldron, died Saturday, April 9,2011, at Kindred Hospital in Greenwood.
Born Jan. 8, 1915, in Shelby County, he was the son of James Wesley and Minnie (Reed) Clapp. He. married Eileen Zetlmaier on Nov. 27, 1957, and she survives.
Other survivors include sister, Lucile Seibert of Scottsdale, Ariz.; niece, Candice Hufft of Lexington, Mo.; nephews, Michael Seibert of Colorado Springs, Colo., Patrick Seibert of Scottsdale and Phillip Tevis of Dallas,Texas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Avolyn Clapp Tevis.
Mr. Clapp was a lifetime resident of this area and a 1933 graduate of Waldron High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in France, Belgium and Germany with the 217th AAA Mobile Gun Unit of Gen. George S. Patton's Third Army, where he held the rank of technical sergeant.
Upon completion of his service, Mr. Clapp returned to the United States and resumed his life as a farmer in the Waldron area, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church.
Wilbur loved farming, International Harvester equipment, traveling, fishing and country music and enjoyed spending time with his wife of 53 years and his family.
Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County, with a graveside military service conducted by local veterans organizations.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St.Vincent Catholic Church in Wilbur's memory.

Wilbur was buried on 13 April 2011 in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery, Shelby Co., IN. He was a Farmer in Liberty Twp., Shelby Co., IN.
