Wyatt Abram Clapp, 86, 815 Wicker St. morning at 5:30 o'clock in local
hospital following one day of critical Illness.
A native of Guilford County, Mr. Clapp was the son of the William Alson
and Barbara Shepherd Clapp. He was the husband of Mrs. Bessie Baulding
Clapp of the home, who survives, and was a retired carpenter with Harris
Lumber Co. He was a charter member of the First Associate Reformed
Presbyterian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Mrs. J.T.
Walker of Burlington, Mrs. Lewis Ingle of Rt. 1, Whitsett, Mrs. Holt
Wilson of Glen Raven and Mrs. Lewis Clemmer of Rt 1, Burlington; one
son, Fred W. Clapp of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Francier of
Miami, Fla., Mrs. Butler Chrismon and Mrs. J. H. Oliver, both of
Greensboro; three brothers, Henry Clapp of McLeansville, and Grant Clapp
and Clarence Clapp of Julian; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Final rites will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First
Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The service will be conducted by
the Rev. Grant Johnson, a former pastor, and the Rev. Hiram Davis,
pastor of the reformed United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Pine
Hill Cemetery.
The body will remain at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington until
taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The
family will be at the mortuary tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.
