Don first lived in Edgar Co., IL in 1927. In 1932, he and his family moved to a small farm in Embarass Twp just west of the intersection of SR 49 and 133. The farm was actually the town of New Athens and was still platted in city lots. In 1936 Don started working for the Nickel Plate RR and was transferred to Maumee, OH where the family lived until 1942 when he was transferred to Brocton, IL. He remained there until he retired in 1959. The article in the book tells of the great wood projects he worked on and the clocks he built.
