William Rufus GARRETT, son of Michael GARRETT and Barbara MURRAY, was born about 1861 in Guilford Co., NC. He died on 10 November 1944 at the age of 83 in Burlington, Alamance Co., NC. THE BURLINGTON (N. C) DAILY TIMES-NEWS, Friday, Nov 10, 1944
William R. Garrett, a resident of Burlington for over 50 years and Elder and Secretary-Treasurer of the Evangelical and Reformed church here, died this morning after six weeks critical illness. He was 83 years old.
Born in Guilford county, he was the son of the late Michael and Barbara Murray Garrett. His wife was Mrs. Imogene Euliss Garrett. Rev. George S. Dillinger, pastor of the First Reformed church of Burlington will conduct the funeral services at the home, 614 Webb Avenue, at 3 p. m. Sunday afternoon. The body will be interned in the Pine Hill cemetery.
The deceased has been a merchant in Burlington for many years and at the time of his death had retired.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Frank R. Heine, Greensboro, Mrs. H. D. Sharpe, Boston, Mass., and Mrs. Grady Beck, Burlington; two sons, Norman, Mt. Kisco, N. Y., and Raymond, also of Mt. Kisco; and nine grandchildren.
He was buried on 12 November 1944 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Burlington, Alamance Co., NC.
