8333. Alvin Eugene "Hap" CORTNER²⁶⁵³ was born on 15 July 1905 in Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.¹⁹⁶¹ He appeared in the census in 1910 in Oregon Twp., Clark Co., IN. Eugene, son, M, W, 4, S, IN, IN, IN He died on 3 February 1942 at the age of 36 in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IN.¹⁹⁶¹ Hap was buried in February 1942 in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.¹⁹⁶¹ Alvin was and attorney with the Standard Oil Company. The family lived in Evansville, IN and lost everything they had in the flood of the Ohio River in 1937. They were just finishing preparing a new house to move into when Hap had a massive coronary and died. The family moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana to be nearer Ruth's family. Ruth remarried but later divorced. She died in Jeffersonville after a long and painful battle with cancer.

Alvin Eugene "Hap" CORTNER and Ruth Anna JOHNSON were married on 10 October 1925 in IN.²⁶⁵³ Ruth Anna JOHNSON was born on 21 March 1906 in Utica, Clark Co., IN.²⁶⁵³ She died of cancer on 22 April 1970 at the age of 64 in Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.²⁶⁵³

12334	iii.	Sidney Francis "Pudge" CORTNER²⁶⁵⁴ was born on 20 December 1934 in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IN.²⁶⁵³ He died on 4 July 1957 at the age of 22 in Clark Co., IN.²⁶⁵³ Never married. He had just completed his term in the armed forces and was attending a fourth of July picnic and reunion with some former classmates on the banks of the Ohio River. He fell over the edge of the cliff into the river. An autopsy showed that he had a heart attack.
