From the hospital in Omaha his body was taken to Plattsmouth where he had once resided and where short funeral services were held, after which it was taken to Peru where funeral services and interment took place on Sun Jan 24.
In a letter to Mrs. Laura Leek, Marshfield, MO 14 Jan 19231, J. D. Graves, Attorney at Law wrote, "married late in life to the finest woman I ever met. She was a practicing physician, and died a little over a year ago. We had no children...In 1880 I was graduated from the College here, taught some years then took up law. Eyes failing I went into the lumber business, and was located at Malvern, IA; Alvin, TX; Garden City, KS; Benkleman and Plattsmouth, NE. Finally was married in 1900 to a Doctor located in this place where I now operate a farm of 320 acres and have a law office in town."
