Clyde Justin Hanks was born November 21, 1888 and passed on to his eternal reward from his home in Springfield, Mo. on October 13. 1954 at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 23 days. He was the son of Thomas J. and Minerva Ann Hanks. He professed faith in Christ as his personal savior early in life and united with the prospect Baptist Church, later moving his membership to the Ozark Baptist Church, then to the Temple Baptist Church in Springfield Clyde, as he was always known to his friend, spent most of his active life in business in and around Ozark, Mo. He was united in marriage to Miss Lou Forgey on August 17, 1912, and to this union two children were born. The little daughter, Rosalie, was called away at the early age of two years. Clyde was a good citizen, honest, upright and industrious, very sympathetic with those who were in sorrow. Always he found it possible to leave his business to sing in funeral services and to assist his friends in many ways. He leaves to mourn his going his devoted companion, Mrs. Lou Hanks; a son Truman, daughter-in-law, Cecile; two grandchildren, Michael Riley and Linda Lou Hanks; one sister, Mr. Nola Payne; three brothers, Emery, Floyd and Loyal Hanks, many other relatives and a host of friends Through his serious illness of recent months, he has spoken often of his readiness to meet his make for which he was so thankful. "Blessed be the dead who die in the Lord." Funeral services were conducted October 15 at 2 p.m. in the Chaffin Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Harold Hurst, with burial in the Selmore Cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home with Masonic rites at the grave. -- Contributed

Mrs. Lou E. Hanks, 74 of 855 South Weaver, Springfield, died in Baptist Hospital there at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Hanks was the widow of Clyde Hanks, longtime Automobile dealer and furniture store operator here. She moved to Springfield shortly after his retirement in 1947, where she was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Hanks is survived by one son, Truman, 2262 Bancroft, Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Allen Stone, Columbus, Kan; two brothers, W. C. Forgey, Ozark and Homer Forgey, Washington, D. C.; two grandchildren and one great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Harris Chapel at Ozark with the Rev. Cecil P. Logan officiating. Burial will be in the Selmore Cemetery near Ozark.
She was buried on 25 August 1966 in Selmore Cemetery, Finley Twp., Christian Co., MO.
