Loyal J. Hanks,. 67, Ozark, died at 3 a.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he had been a patient two weeks, He was a longtime employee of Anderson Hardware in Ozark and a member of the First Baptist Church. He had lived in Christian County all his life. He is survived by his wife, Blanche; two daughters, Mrs. Rosalyn Gibbons, Springfield, and Mrs. Neil Jean Miller, Ozark; a brother, Emery Hanks, Ozark; a sister, Mrs. Nola Payne, Ozark; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Harris Chapel here, with the Rev. Allen Harrison officiating. Burial was in the Selmore Cemetery. He was buried on 6 July 1966 in Selmore Cemetery, Finley Twp., Christian Co., MO.¹⁸⁵⁴

Blanche Hanks, 88, died in her home Tuesday morning following a long illness. Born Jan. 7, 1901 near Rogersville, she was a long-time Ozark area resident. She was employed as a salesperson for the A.D. Roper department store in Ozark for 23 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark. She is survived by two daughters, Nell Miller, Ozark; and Rose­lyn Carpenter, Springfield; three granddaughters, Deanna Murray, Mesa, Ariz., Terri Brown, St. Louis, and Connie Hoskins, Ozark; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal J. Hanks; a daughter, Betty Hanks; and a granddaughter, Cheryl Anderson. Services will be announced by Adams Funeral Home, with David Howard officiating. Burial will be in Selmore Cemetery. She was buried on 29 December 1989 in Selmore Cemetery, Finley Twp., Christian Co., MO. Shares stone with Loyal and Betty.
