He had no contact with her after that. She filed charging desertion and he had to pay the court costs. Her father and mother both testified at the hearing. They2438 were divorced on 4 April 1932 in Piatt Co., IL.715 Decree Record 6, page 188. Oratrix Velma ATER714, daughter of James P. ATER and Lydia (?), was born (date unknown). Velma was the youngest daughter of James Ater. She had attended the Monticello High School and worked at the Syrup of Pepsin factory in 1928.
