She died on 27 June 2013 at the age of 88 at Physicians Regional medical Center in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN.²⁹⁹⁸ Thomas, Helen K.- age 88, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June, 27, 2013, at Physicians Regional Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by husband, Sam Thomas; parents, Charles and Martha Kitts; sisters, Dora, Grace, Mamie, and Bonnie. She is survived by daughter, Pam Cockrum; grandson, Luke Cockrum, who was one of the greatest joys of her life; special lifelong friend and neighbor, Betty Armstrong; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Thomas, and Lucille Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, June 28, 2013, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Gene Hurley officiating. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 am, Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 am interment service.
