137. George Tobias MAY27,112 was born on 6 November 1776 in Orange Co., NC. He lost a house to fire on 10 August 1839 in Jennings Co., IN.113 THe hewed log house of the George Tobias May family burns. "While they were at church the house was destroyed by fire. They saved only two beds and one clock. Their loss was $800. THe neighbors were kind and helped rebuild and replace the furniture. They built another hewed log house which still stands" (written circa 1848). He died on 17 November 1864 at the age of 88 in Jennings Co., IN. George went to Jennings Co., Indiana in 1823 to check out land. Four years later, in 1827, he took he family there.

George Tobias MAY and Catherine "Katy" FRIDDLE were married on 8 December 1797 in Orange Co., NC. "Orange Co., NC Marriage Bonds" by Holcomb has date of 8 Feb 1798. They lived in Scipio, Jennings Co., IN in 1827.114 Catherine "Katy" FRIDDLE was born on 25 May 1778 in Guilford Co., NC. She died on 24 July 1835 at the age of 57 in Jennings Co., IN.

George Tobias MAY and Lucy PARISH were married in 1850 in Scipio, Jennings Co., IN.115 Lucy PARISH115, daughter of Noel PARISH and Wilmina LAWRENCE, was born on 12 October 1790 in Guilford Co., NC.115 When she was 8 years old her first task was to pick one half pound of seed cotton every day. When she was twelve she had to card and spin five cuts of cotton for a day's work, and at the age of 14, she had to weave and make all her own dresses.
