Elizabeth INGLE and John HOFFMAN Sr. were married about 1778 in Guilford Co., NC. John HOFFMAN Sr.⁹⁴, son of Christian HOFFMAN, was born in 1753.⁹⁵ He died on 18 September 1839 at the age of 86 in NC.^2,81 John Hoffman and his brother, Christian Hoffman, Jr. were in the patriot army at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse (March 15, 1781) and were imprisoned by Lord Cornwallis at New Garden Meeting House.
