He served in the War of 1812 as a private in the Company commanded by Capt. Robert Droke, in the 1st Regiment of the Tennessee Volunteers, under Col. Wier. Peter Loy volunteered at Jacksboro, Campbell Co., TN on 15 Jan 1814. On Apr 12, 1855, at the age of 61, Peter Loy applied for bounty land for his service in the war.
