Sarah "Sallie" SHARP and John "Clinch John" GRAVES Jr. were married in 1792 in Orange Co., NC.30,31 John "Clinch John" GRAVES Jr. was born on 8 March 1772 in Orange Co., NC.28,30,32 That part is now Alamance Co. He in 1801 in Claiborne Co., TN.28 John Graves' name appears in the records of Claiborne County in 1801 as one of the witnesses to a "love" deed from Henry Sharp, Sr. to his son Henry Jr. He signed a will on 2 September 1844 in Tazewell, Claiborne Co., TN.28 Claiborne County Will Book A, p. 404 This will bequeaths "unto my son John all my lands...all my personal property...and to give my wife comfortable support and to take good care of her during her natural life...My will is that my grandson Hugh H. Graves have a dark blue rone horse that I allowed for him, also a saddle." Other children mentioned are 3 youngest next to John and 3 next oldest. Sons John and Eli were appointed executors. Clinch John died on 6 September 1850 in Sharps Chapel, Union Co., TN.28,30,32 Ref. page 127 UCHS Pathways, December 1989. He married his first cousin Sarah Sharp. There is a John Graves listed as Grantee and Jacob Peck listed as Grantor in Claiborne County, Tennessee before the formation of Union County. Some of these tracts of land were a part of the Stokely Donelson Grant. Taken from the deed books on file in the Claiborne County, Tennessee courthouse.
He owned a farm at Sharps Chapel, about one mile north of the Clinch River, 30 miles north of Knoxville and about the same distance south of Cumberland Gap.
