72. John MERRITT¹²¹ was born in 1754 in Essex Co., VA.¹²¹ He died on 6 September 1824 at the age of 70 in Highland Co., OH.¹²¹ Lassman has him dying in Marion Co., IN. John and his two older brothers were all in the Revolutionary War. John and his wife sold all their land in Stokes Co., NC in about 1820. Elizabeth "Lydia" MOORE and John MERRITT¹²¹ were married in 1779 in Stokes Co., NC.¹²¹ They had eleven children.

73. Elizabeth "Lydia" MOORE was born in 1760 in Scotland. She died in 1827 at the age of 67 in Highland Co., OH.¹²¹ Lassman has her death in 1824, Marion Co., IN.

Mary MERRITT was born on 12 June 1780 in Stokes Co., NC. She died on 15 November 1849 at the age of 69.

James MERRITT was born in June 1782 in Stokes Co., NC. He died in 1858 at the age of 76 in Fort Dodge, Webster Co., IA.
iv.
Sarah MERRITT was born on 31 January 1784 in Stokes Co., NC. She died on 13 February 1856 at the age of 72.
v.
John MERRITT was born in 1786 in Stokes Co., NC. He died in 1854 at the age of 68.

Elizabeth MERRITT was born in 1788 in Stokes Co., NC.
vii.
Lewis MERRITT was born in 1788 in Stokes Co., NC.
viii.
George Stewart MERRITT was born in 1789 in Stokes Co., NC. He died on 5 July 1853 at the age of 64 in Danville, Hendricks Co., IN.
