He was buried in July 1892 in Old Gray Cemetery, Knoxville, TN. "About 1840 he began the study of medicine, and in 1843 he began practicing in McMinn Co., TN, where he continued two years. He then removed and located near Graveston, Knox Co., TN., where he continued the practice of his profession up to the breaking out of the late war. In August, 1861, our subject became assistant surgeon in the First TN Regiment, and later was promoted to surgeon of the Third TN Regiment. After the war he returned to his home at Graveston, where, in connection with farming and mercantile pursuits, he has practiced his profession ever since. He has a farm of 175 acres of well improved land in Knox County, and is and excellent citizen. Our subject was appointed examining surgeon for the pension department at Knoxville. He is a Republican in politics."
