138. John T. RUTHERFORD⁴⁵ was born in 1752 in Essex Co., VA. He died between 17 December 1817 and 6 April 1818 in Knox Co., TN. He signed a will on 17 December 1817 in Knox Co., TN.⁴⁶ John named his wife, Margaret, and children, William, Amelian, Mark, Houston, Lloyd, and Ezekial.
Will proven for name at place on date.⁴⁶ John T. Rutherford, a resident of St. Marys County, Maryland in 1776, enlisted, September 9, 1778, in the 7th Maryland Regiment for a term of three years. He served as a Corporal in Captain Benjamin Spiker’s Company. He moved to Georgia and then Tennessee in the late 1700’s, and purchased a tract of land from James Wood, in 1798, on Flat Creek in Knox County. John Rutherford named his wife and children in his will, dated December 17, 1817, and probated in Knox County, Tennessee in April 1818.

John T. RUTHERFORD and Mary LOCKE were married circa 1776. Mary LOCKE died before 1 March 1811.

John T. RUTHERFORD and Mary LOCKE had the following children:
