PUBLIC MEETING IN GUILFORD COUNTY.
A large meeting of the people ot Guilford county was held at Alamance school house, Tuesday, the 27th of August. Abraham Clapp, was called to the Chair, and J. P. Montgomery was appointed Secretary. On motion, the chairman appointed the following men to draft resolutions: W. S. Gilmer, John Clapp, Jr., Levi Barnhart, J. Causley and George Starr, who adopted the resolutions of a meeting previously held at Coble's school house on the 13th inst., with an amendment, that the people who are in favor of peace to meet and hold public prayer meetings, and pray to God to bring this unholy war to a close, and restore peace and quietude to our once happy country. And if God be for us who can be against us. Which were unanimously adopted.
