Tubal died on 16 August 1862 at the age of 33 in Richmond, Richmond City, VA.¹¹⁵³ Tubal Albright Clapp died in Richmond, VA in hospital tent at the camp of the 1st Regt NC Troops on the 16th day of Aug 1862 according to family bible reproduced in Volume 7, 1992 of Clapp Family Newsletter, page 8. Tubal Albright Clapp was taken into church Oct 29th, 1848 by Rev. G.W. Welker. He died in the Army in the Civil War.

Tubal Albright CLAPP and Nellie "Nely" MAY were married on 16 December 1849 in NC.¹¹⁵³ Marriage date from Matrimonial Register of Rev. George W. Welker. His notes say "young and inexperienced." Nellie "Nely" MAY^438,1153, daughter of Lewis MAY and Rachel (?), was born in July 1832 in NC.^{438,1153,1154} She appeared in the census in 1850 in South District, Alamance Co., NC. She died on 15 July 1904 at the age of 72 in NC.⁴³⁸ Nely was buried in 1904 in Brick Church Cemetery, Guilford Co., NC.⁴³⁸ Brick Church census says her father was Lewis May. Newsletter says, "Mother's name was probably Rachel. "Mrs. Rachel Garrett died 1 Jan 1854 at the age of 55 or 56 years leaving behind 4 children and 9 grandchildren.""
