He died on 11 November 1866 at the age of 77 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., TX. Buried in the Clapp Cemetery just off Hwy 154 north of Sulphur Springs. Moved to NE Texas in 1817. At the time it was actually Miller County in the Arkansas territory. Later it was Red River County, Texas. They moved there with Elizabeth's uncles George and Adam Lawrence. David joined the Wavell Colony as one of 122 families who registered with Englishman, Arthur G. Wavell, between 1826-1830 to settle in Red River Co., TX. David received his legal land claim in 1841. In an 1840 Tax List he registered as having 25 cattle, 6 work horses and 1 metal clock. His move to Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., TX. took place by 1850. His real estate value was $8200 and personal property value was $5500.
