Anna is buried in William's Cemetery, Craig Co., VA. Anna Margaret "Polly" CLAPP and Adam "Barney" LUGAR (LUGER) Sr. were married on 22 June 1780 in Guilford Co., NC. Married in the Brick Church, Guilford Co., NC. Oldest child in Indiana and Adam, Jr. was in Giles Co., VA. Do not have the name of the oldest child. Adam "Barney" LUGAR (LUGER) Sr. was born on 1 March 1738 in Frankfort, Germany. He died on 9 March 1837 at the age of 99 in Giles Co., VA. Adam came to America at age 33 with the Hessian Army, arrived in NY at the time the British occupied it (possibly 23 July 1776). He deserted after 4 weeks and enlisted in the Continental Army at Lancaster, PA. He served as a private in Captain Celeron's Company under Colonel Posher and General Pulaski. They marched to Philadelphia, and then to Elizabethtown and finally to an area he called New Kirby, where they engaged with the British. Colonel Posher was killed and a man named Fry was made Colonel. Here they spent the winter. In the Spring, they marched from PA to Charleston, SC, where they engaged the British again.. After 18 months he was discharged. Adam moved up to NC and enlisted again with the N. C. Militia and served another 8 months. Sometime in 1777 in Orange Co., NC he married Anna Margaret Clapp. Between 1777 and 1779 he moved to Giles Co., VA. (Now Craig Co.), settling in Sinking Creek and south side of Johns Creek Mountain and Salt Pond Mountain. Information on this family from a family group sheet done by Jerry L.
