GREENSBORO - Mrs. Ruth Jobe Clapp, 86,loving wife, mother, and grandmother, formerly of McConnell Road, she was a resident of Clapp's Nursing Center, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, at Alamance Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Mike Barrett and Rev. Carl Parsons will officiate.
Ruth was born on August 1, 1920, in Guilford Co. to the late Dewey and Inez Jobe. She was a graduate of Alamance High School and King's Business College and worked as an executive secretary for 30 years with Burlington Industries. She was a lifelong member of Alamance Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved and a former organist. She loved to participate in all aspects of her children's and grandchildren's lives and enjoyed doing for others in her community.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, John Boyd Clapp; three children, Betsy Clapp Peacock, Carolyn Clapp Whitley and Thomas Harold Clapp (wife, Barbara) all of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Lt. Jeffrey Peacock (wife, Shannon) of San Antonio, Texas, Bryan Whitley (wife, Lydia), Jonathan Whitley (wife, Amy) and Matthew Whitley, all of Greensboro, Meredith Perlman (husband, Ben) of Atlanta, Ga. and Allison Marth (husband, David) of Climax; and stepmother, Grace Jobe of Reidsville.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 9 p.m. on Friday at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden and other times at the home of Carolyn Whitley.
The family would like to thank Clapp's Nursing Center for their loving and compassionate care during her stay.
