Clapp Citizens of the community were deeply saddened last week-end to learn of the sudden passing of Thomas Clayborne Clapp at his home in the early hours of Friday morning, October 10th . He had spent nearly all of his 68 years of life within Colorado county and he and his family have made Eagle Lake their home for many years. Funeral services were conducted at the Mill-Bauer Funeral Home at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon, by the Rev. D. Rhea Allison of Colly Memorial Methodist Church. Mrs. Allison sang favorite hymns, accompanied by Miss Ophelia Johnson. The deceased was laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers; C.F. White, Ernest Seaholm, Winn poole, Tom Austin, Johnny Nelson and Henry Kretzshmar. Thomas Clapp was born near Alleyton, Texas, on August 10, 1884 the son of Eli and Louisa Clapp. He embraced the Christian faith in Chesterville in 1913. On November 15, 1914 he was united in marriage to Nellie Hoadley at Sealy. Beside his widow, he leaves as survivors, four daughters; Mrs. Lou Ella Hodde and Mrs. Alice Belle Ruby of Eagle Lake; Mrs. Leola Nelson of Edna; and Mrs. Edna Mae Mulcahy of Sequin; one brother, Joe Clapp of Houston; and eight grandchildren. Thomas Clayborne CLAPP and Nellie HOADLEY were married on 15 November 1914 in Sealy, Austin Co., TX. Nellie HOADLEY was born on 26 July 1885. She died on 15 July 1955 at the age of 69 in Colorado Co., TX. She was buried in July 1955 in Lakeside Cemetery, Colorado Co., TX.
