WHITSETT - Mr. Ferry Augustus Clapp, Sr., 83, of 1442 NC 61 South, died
Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, having
been critically ill for six months.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at Brick Reform
United Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Robert C. Boyd, Pastor
and the Rev. Delton Agnor of Brightwood Christian Church. Burial will be
in Alamance Memorial Park.
A native of Guilford County, Mr. Clapp was the son of the late Floyd
Everett Clapp, Sr. and Myrtle Smith Clapp. He was a retired farmer,
member of Brick Reform United Church of Christ, and a member of the
Guilford County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Hoffman Clapp of the home;
daughter, Mrs. Richard 'Brenda' Wade, Jr. of Whitsett; sons, Mr. F.A.
Clapp, Jr., Mr. Michael Clapp, Mr. Gerald Clapp all of Whitsett and Mr.
Douglas Clapp of Liberty; sisters, Mrs. Mabel Wagoner, Mrs. Lucy
Wagoner, Mrs. Sue Clubb, Mrs. Clara Chriscoe, Mrs. Agnes Fogleman, all
of Burlington and Mrs. Annie Allen of Mebane; brothers, Mr. Luke Clapp
of Whitsett; Mr. Kestle Clapp of Elon College, Mr. Buddy Clapp and Mr.
Floyd Clapp , Jr., both of Burlington; 14 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Mr. Raymond Clapp.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 1997,
at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington and other times at the
residence. The body will be placed in the church to lie in state 30
minutes prior to the service.

Ferris Augustus "Ferry" CLAPP Sr. and Zona Grace HOFFMAN were married on 7 September 1935 in Alamance Co., NC. Zona Grace HOFFMAN, daughter of Myron Allen HOFFMAN and Mary Elizabeth WOODARD, was born on 12 February 1912 in Whitsett, Guilford Co., NC. WHITSETT - Mrs. Grace Hoffman Clapp went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2007.
Mrs. Clapp was born on February 12, 1912, in Whitsett, N.C. She was married to her loving husband, Ferry Clapp Sr., on September 7, 1935. They were blessed with a marriage of 62 years. She will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear friend.
Mrs. Clapp was preceded in death by her husband, Ferry Clapp Sr.; and her parents, Myron Allen Hoffman and Mary Woodard Hoffman.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Wade and husband, Richard, of Whitsett; four sons, F.A. Clapp Jr. and wife, Judith, of Whitsett, Douglas Clapp and wife, Pat, of Liberty, Michael Clapp and wife, Dot, of Whitsett, and Gerald Clapp and wife, Ronda, of Whitsett; 14 grandchildren, Lisa Ingle, Sherry Bradshaw, Carrie Craig, Nina Allred, Franklin Clapp, Michael Clapp Jr., John Clapp, April Allred, Frank Clapp, Bobby Hunter Jr., Wayne Hunter, Kimberly Lutterloh, Stephanie Clapp and Jessie Clapp; 12 great-grandchildren, Sara Ingle, Victoria Bradshaw, Adriana Bradshaw, Nicholas Hensley, Theo Craig, Brandy Craig, Charles Douglas “Seed” Allred, Mikayla Clapp, Jacob Allred, Grayson Allred, Autumn Hunter, and Cameron Lutterloh.
Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore “Ted” J. Hoffman and Harry L. Hoffman; three sisters, Mrs. Brower “Jennie” Ingle, Mrs. Seth “Elsie” Slade, and Mrs. Wade “Marion” York; and two great-grandchildren, Allie Ingle and Summer Mashburn.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Brick Reformed Church, with the Rev. Jon Bailey, and the Rev. Robert Boyd officiating. The casket will be placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 5 to 8 this evening, and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to the Brick Reformed Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, 3699 Brick Church Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
She was buried on 6 May 2007 in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance Co., NC.
