1020. John ALBRIGHT776 was born on 1 May 1822 in Anderson Co., TN.776 John moved into Indiana around 1844 and settled in Howard Co., IN, near the present site of Kokomo. Blanchard'a History of Howard County said, "John Albright is the third of twelve children born to William and Elizabeth Albright, natives respectively of North Carolina and Tennessee. (note: Elizabeth was probably born in NC. Her father stayed and took care of his mother, after his father's death, until she died there in 1806.) His parents came to Howard county in 1847 and located in Taylor Township. Our subject was born in Anderson Co., TN, and removed with his parents to Preble County, Ohio when he was 12 years of age. He attended the public schools and worked on his father's farm until he was 21. He then formed a partnership with his father in the stone and brick-laying business, and in 1845 came to Howard County and took a claim in Taylor Township. He remained there until the spring of 1883, when he sold his farm for $16,600 and removed to Center Township where he at present reside. (1884). He is one of the leading farmers in the county and for several years has been overseeing his farm and working at his trade with his brother, William B. ... He has been a member of the M. E. Church for about 49 years, and is at present and active member of The Sons of Temperance. He is a Democrat in politics, and is at present sole proprietor of a tile factory located at his farm."
