John Thomas CHENOWITH was born on 19 November 1833 in Greenville, Darke Co., OH.^{199,1762,1763} He died on 19 April 1903 at the age of 69 in Winchester, Randolph Co., IN.¹⁷⁶² At the age of eighteen, John started teaching school, a pursuit he followed for about 7 years. At twenty-seven he began the study of medicine, working with Dr. Z. M. Lansdown at Greenville for 2 years. Then he went to Cincinnati to continue his apprenticeship there with Dr. C. H. Cleveland, and later, to attend and graduate for the Eclectic Medical Institute, and afterward, the Medical College of Ohio. John began the practice of medicine in 1860 at Huntsville, in Randolph Co., IN, staying for about 3 1/2 years.
