Clapp, 84, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Alamance Health Care. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Low's Lutheran Church, 2136 N.C. 61, Liberty, by the Rev. Brian Ballard, pastor. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Guilford County, Miss Clapp was the daughter of Mr. John Alson Clapp and Mrs. Ada Smith Clapp, both deceased. Miss Clapp was a graduate of Nathanael Green High School and Burlington Business College. She retired from Baby Needs Inc. She was a lifelong member of Low's Lutheran Church and was a member of the Berta Lyerly Circle. Miss Clapp was also a member of the American Business Womans Association, Bega Chapter, and received the 1981 Woman of the Year Award. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Alice Clapp, Mrs. Martha Story and Mrs. Nell Pickard; and brothers, Mr. Ben Clapp, Mr. Vance Clapp, Mr. J.P. Clapp, Mr. Bill Clapp, Mr. Luther Clapp and Mr. Carl Clapp. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Hoyt (Ruby) Bowman, Mrs. Wade (Frances) Sharpe, and Mrs. Marshall (Marie) Paul all of Liberty. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Rich and Thompson Mortuary, Burlington and at other times at the residence of sister, Mrs. Marshall (Marie) Paul, 2127 N.C. 61, Liberty. Memorials may be made to Low's Lutheran Church, 2136 N.C. 61, Liberty, N.C. 27298.
