Jacob Foust (sometimes spelled FOUTE) was a resident of Sullivan, Jefferson, and Roane Counties, TN. as evidenced by deed and tax records. He was trustee and elder of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Jefferson Co. prior to 1810. He was listed on the 1819 Tax list of Roane Co. as being the owner of 500 acres of land. He remained in Roane County where he reared a large family of 12 children. His will is recorded in Book B, pages 150, 151, 152, naming his children as heirs of his estate. Daniel David Foust was named administrator of the estate. Catharine SHOULTS, daughter of Christopher SHOULTS, died.155 If her death date of 21 Jun 1795 is correct, Jacob must have remarried.
