Alive in 1805 when court appointed her and son Lewis to administer her husbands estate in Sullivan Co., TN. Catharine CLAPP and John Philip FOUST Sr. were married on 14 November 1763. Settled first in Orange (now Alamance Co., NC) in 1788. They moved to Sullivan Co., TN in 1788. They bought 200 acres north of the Holston River. John Philip FOUST Sr., son of Johannes Heinrich FOUST and Anna Barbara ALBRIGHT, was born on 26 March 1742 in Oley Twp., Berks Co., PA.37,38 He died in December 1804 at the age of 62 in Sullivan Co., TN. Born in Oley Twp. John Philip left no will. On July 26, 1788 Philip Foust bought from William Combs of NC 200 acres, north of the Holston River, Sullivan Co., TN Sept. 15, 1795 he purchased from Henry Hughes a tract of land on Reedy Creek containing 16 acres. he obtained from the State of NC a grant of land containing 47 acres, north of Holston River; deed dated 1797. These acquisitions are recorded at Blountville, Sullivan County courthouse in Book 1, page 362, book3, page 1, and book 3, page 220. he paid taxes in 1796 on 263 acres of land in Sullivan Co., TN. At the January 1905 session of the County Court, Sullivan Co., TN. his widow, Catherine Foust and son Lewis Foust were appointed administrators of his estate. They, as administrators, deeded to Robert Rhea, Sullivan Co., 63 acres on Fall Creek, dated Jan 31 1905, and recorded same in Book 4, page 624. No disposition of the remaining 200 acres is recorded.
